About

The beauty of life in nature supplies an unending source of inspiration for subject matter. Peterson Laird is a lifelong dog, horse and cat owner, and the love she feels for her animals is reflected in the paintings and drawings.

Portrait art is rendered primarily in pastels, but also includes watercolor, graphite and colored pencils. Commissioned portraits of dogs, cats, horses, other animals or people can be drawn or painted in 1-3 weeks time. If you would like a special memorial of a beloved family member or pet, that can be done from any combination of photographs that you might have. You can combine any number of photographs to create a one-of-a-kind composite painting or drawing that meets your needs perfectly! Prices start at $185 for an 11″ x 17″ pastel portrait.

Victoria Peterson Laird has been doing commissioned portraits since 1970, and has had her work exhibited all over the United States as well as in Japan, Australia, Mexico and New Zealand. She has been teaching art since 1978 and is the Director of Visual Art at William Penn University in Iowa, where she has been teaching art since 1992.
